Dr. Andrea Mata, the daughter of a Mexican immigrant, grew up in a gang-infested neighborhood on Chicago's south side. Despite the odds, she credits her success to a strong, loving, and sarcastic family.
Andrea graduated summa cum laude from Valparaiso University with a degree in Psychology and minors in Criminology and Urban Studies. She earned her Doctorate in Clinical Child Psychology at Kent State University and interned at Boys Town in Omaha, Nebraska.
After nine years as a college professor, Andrea joined the Anxiety Treatment Center of Greater Toledo and founded BrightSpot Families to pursue her mission of fortifying families.
Married for 11 years, Andrea and her husband, Jim, have twins and a younger daughter. She enjoys reading, biking, running, and swimming.
